Residential Landscaping Planned for the Property

Oahu homes present different growing conditions and access limitations. A wind-exposed property needs a different plant strategy from a protected courtyard. A shaded side yard cannot be evaluated like an open lawn. Existing grades may direct water toward areas where it can collect after rainfall or irrigation.
‍
We begin by reviewing the visible conditions that affect the requested work. That review helps us define planting areas and access. Irrigation and landscape drainage are evaluated within the limits of the requested scope. If a condition requires structural or engineering direction, that responsibility must be assigned to the appropriate professional before the affected work proceeds.
‍
Our goal is a written scope tied to the actual property. Plant quantities are confirmed before they become commitments. Material selections and scheduling are also confirmed through the project process.

What We Review Before Recommending a Scope

Residential landscaping decisions should be based on observed conditions rather than a preset package.

Site consideration Why we review it
Sun and wind exposure Helps determine where selected plants may be suitable
Existing grades Shows where water appears to move or collect
Irrigation condition Helps identify visible coverage concerns and components requiring evaluation
Property access Affects delivery planning and how materials can reach the work area
Mature plant size Helps maintain appropriate separation from structures or narrow paths
Maintenance expectations Guides plant selection and the scope required after installation

A landscape review is not a substitute for civil or structural engineering. If visible conditions indicate an issue outside our confirmed landscaping scope, we identify it and request the necessary direction before proceeding.

Local Plant Sourcing Through Our Kapolei Nursery

We operate a private landscape nursery in Kapolei. For plant material confirmed in inventory, local sourcing can reduce reliance on trans-Pacific shipments and support installation planning.
‍
Plant availability is verified for each project. We do not assume that a requested species or size is available until inventory has been confirmed. Required quantities receive their own check. If a requested item is unavailable, any proposed substitution should be reviewed and approved before delivery.

Coordinating Planting With Irrigation and Drainage

Plant selection is only one part of a residential landscape. Root zones need suitable site conditions. Irrigation should reach the specified planting without persistent overspray or saturation. Finished grades should follow the approved project documents.
‍
When irrigation or landscape drainage is included, we define the work before mobilization. We do not represent landscape drainage as foundation repair or engineered stormwater design. Conditions involving structures or utilities may require professional review.

Our Residential Landscaping Process

Project stage What we confirm
Initial discussion The property areas involved and the homeowner’s priorities
Site review Visible conditions and access limitations. Items needing further direction are recorded separately.
Scope development Included work and selected materials. Exclusions are documented separately.
Pre-work confirmation Plant availability and the approved schedule
Field work and closeout Authorized changes and any agreed establishment requirements

Ongoing maintenance is defined separately from an installation unless the proposal states otherwise. Field substitutions also require the agreed authorization before they are implemented.
